PLATILLO VOLADOR
Calle del Clot 75 (El Clot)
Metro: Glories/El Clot
open every day 12:00-23:30H, Fridays and Saturdays until 00:30h
PLATILLO VOLADOR means UFO and the whole theme of the place is freaky-spacy.
The restaurant with a big street terrace opened a couple of month ago, in 2022, in El Clot, which is one of the less touristic areas of the city. Eventhough, it´s just a short walk away from Plaza Glories.
It´s opening was a sudden success and it´s already one of the highlights of the neighbourhood. Every time I went there is was full, but don´t worry, the extremely friendly staff will get you a table in no-time.
Once famous to sell one of Barcelonas cheapest vermuts (vermut de la casa only 1,50€), now it really got a reputation on it´s tapas, too.
The ´tortilla de patata´ is homemade every time and my personal favorite. Although, I really recommend you to try the ´clara de maracuyá´ if you want to start off with a fresh beer before getting to the vermut.
- total on bill: aprox. 10-15€ for drinks and shared tapas
KHAO THAI
Plaza Mercat 15 (El Clot)
Metro: Glories/El Clot
open 13:00-16:00 and 20-23:00H, Tuesdays closed
I discovered this treasure by pure coincidence, while I was looking for a birthday dinner option with my friends: Khao Thai is in El Clot neighbourhood and defineatly off the beaten track, but somehow close to home and still centric, though.
The treatment from the staff was excellent, even there were a lot of full tables in the busy restaurant. As a group we ordered a lot of variety and all dishes, without exception, were super tasty.
Of course, a classic Pad Thai is usually always a safe choice, but you shouldn‘t hesitate to try their soups, too.
Ever since we last went, I am unpatient to come back and explore more!
LITTLE VIET
C/ Cartagena 328
Metro: Sant Pau
open 13:00-16:00 and 20-23:00H, Tuesdays closed
After my vacation in Vietnam in 2023 I crave Vietnamese food from time to time and Little Viet is defineatly one of my favorite go-to-places.
First, the small space doesn’t let you suspect such a long menu. The colorful pictures show their super authentic classic Vietnamese dishes.
And, I especially love that they have several pages of vegan assortments.
Don't trust Tripadvisor, trust me!
Hi, my name is Kristin.
I'm from Germany but for over ten years I have been living, working and eating in Barcelona. Receiving a lot of friends from all over the world I always have been asked for references and recommendations where to enjoy a good meal or having a drink in the city.
