Metro: Joanic/Fontana
open every day: 10.00-24h, Mondays 12.30-24h (dinner from 20h)
Book a table here!
This place is one of the most popular tapas places in the area. That is why it is usually hard to get a table, if you haven’t booked in advance or wait on the bar just before they open for dinner turn at 20:00H.
The food is really good and includes the usual suspects as well as some interesting twists of local cuisine. Any though, don’t forget to order the bravas with a delicious dried tomato-aioli salsa.
The staff is very friendly, speaks some English and will be happy to recommend you food or help you with the wine selection.
- total on bill: 25-30€ p.P. for dinner with wine
Note: PEPA TOMATE recently opened a second location in Carrer Parlament (Sant Antoni). I haven´t tried yet, but I do not doubt, that the food is just as good. The modern space for sure looks great and in Parlament street there are lots of places around to continue the night after dinner with drinks.

We came for a drink and stayed for tapas!
This lovely little place just behind the (former) market of Gràcia distinguishes for great service, quality food and a super friendly atmosphere!
Even though the restaurant is quite small with just a few tables and a counter with bar stools, they have an extense tapas menu, including classics, favorites and creative combinations. For now, everything I tried was delicious - and quite affordable, too.
- total on bill: aprox.15€ for beers, vermut and shared tapas
SANTA GULA
Plaza Narcis Oller 3 (Gràcia)
Metro: Diagonal
open every day 13:00-16:00H and 20:00-23:00H
This lovely tiny place in the triangle between Diagonal, Gràcia and Eixample was a really recent discovery.
SANTA GULA serves modern tapas. The menu card is limited to aprox. 20 dishes only, but everything we tried was super tasty, full of flavour and it seemed to be made with lot's of cariño. There was a reasonable amount of vegetarian dishes, to chose from.
Since the restaurant doesn't have a lot of tables it's crucial to book a table in advance, you can reserve online here.
- total on bill: ~30€ p.P. for dinner of shared tapas and wine
EL GLOP
C/ Sant Lluís 24 (Gràcia)
Metro: Joanic
open every day: 13:00- 16:00h & 20:00- 1:00h
The TAVERNA EL GLOP in Gràcia offers us a taste of the traditional catalan-spanish cuisine in Catalonia.
On their menu we can find catalan classics such as cargols, snales in a delicious tomato salsa, and the extremely popular calçots scallions (from february to march). The atmosphere in EL GLOP is very familiar and the decoration rustic. From plastic chairs and plaid table-clothing to the constant smell of the carcoal-barbecue the Glop fullfills every single one of our expectations about a traditional spanish tavern.
The portions are really generous and the pan con tomate just enormous. If you order an entrance salad 'Ensalda El Glop' you can easily share it between 2-3 persons.
- total on bill: 20€ p.P. including wine
EL BANDARRA TAPERÍA
C/ Torrijos 53 (Gràcia)
Metro: Fontana or Joanic
open every day 13:00-02:00H
This welcoming bar in the streets of Gràcia is an excellent stop for a vermut, wine or beer or if you want to enjoy delicious tapas for dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.
EL BANDARRA is modern, yet cozy and but if you prefer the terrace to the subterranean inside of the restaurant, you should bring patience, luck or a dinner reservation. To get a seat on an outside table in Gràcia is always a challenge.
If you are lucky anyway, you can enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine watching the busy Plaça Virreina with the church and the people going to see a movie at Verdi Cinema.
EL BANDARRA has a great chef, who offers modern & traditional tapas, asian fusions & creative seasonal plates. You should also ask for the dishes of the day, as often they have specialties off the menu. Such as the kitchen, the service is professional & friendly.
ATTENTION: +10% if you sit on the terrace!
- total on bill: ~15€ for shared tapas & wine/beer
LLURITO
LLURITO: C/ Torrent de los Flors 71 (Gràcia)

Metro: Joanic
open weekdays 13:30-15:30 & 23:00H and Saturday, Sunday 13:30-23:00H
Website und Reservierungen hier!
This small restaurant names itself "mariscaría desenfadada" (casual seafood) and you get just that: a casual, simple space that sets the focus on fresh fish - without fuss.
Since both of their locations are quite small, I recommend you to book a table in advance - especially for the weekend.
- total on bill: 25-35€ per person
RABIPELAO
C/de la Mercé 26 (Barri Gòtic) & C/ Riera alta 50 (Rawalistan) & C/ Torrent dén Vidalet 22
(Gràcia)
Metro: Drassanes & Sant Antoni & Joanic
open from Monday to Sunday: 20:30-3:00h (Gòtic) & 19:30-3:00h (Raval) & 19:00-2:30 (Gràcia)
On this point I must be biased: The RABIPELAO is my favorite bar in Barcelona!
After discovering it I 've been to it several times a week and I still take every single friend who come to visit to have at least one Guarapita drink with me.
The Rabi is a venezuelan cocktail bar with by now three locations in Barcelona: the original cocktail bar in downtown Barrí Gòtic, the 'Rabipeladita' in Raval and the spacious and more quiet one in Gràcia. I like them all, though due to it's location the Rabipeladita in Raval is the most centric one.
The Rabi offers a whole big list of different rums from all over the caribean. Also you can also order venezuelan tapas and small dishes such as empanadas, ceviche and frejoles.
The cocktails have reasonable prices and are freshly prepared.
LA TABERNA GRIEGA
C/ Torrent de l'Olla 123 (Gràcia)
Metro: Fontana/Joanic
open every day 12:30-16:00h & 20:00-24:00h
Greek food is one of my favourites in the world.
After this year’s holiday on the Greek Cyclades islands I couldn’t get enough and went on a search in Barcelona.
Probably there are a lot of great places, but I like to recommend you this one in Gràcia: They have an extent menu with a lot of vegetarian and seafood options where it is really hard to choose from. They also offer a fixed dinner menus from 15-20€ (incl. wine or not). Lunch menu is only 10€ incl. drink & dessert.
The space is really comfortable and nicely decorated and the atmosphere is relaxed while you enjoy your dinner with Greek background tunes. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and happy to recommend you wine and food according to your preferences.
- total on bill: around 20€ p.P.
CAFÉ SALAMBO
C/ Torrijos 51 (Gràcia)
Metro: Fontana or Joanic
open monday to thursday 12:00- 1:00h, friday & saturday until 3:00 and sunday 12:00 - 24:00h
The CAFÉ SALAMBO is a really nice mixture between a coffee shop, restaurant and bar in the neighbourhood of Gràcia.
It has a small terrace close to the Plaza Vidreira in the same street like the Mexican deli shop TEICAWAY.
I appreciate the SALAMBO overall for a relaxed sunday afternoon coffee with a little cake or pastry or for a Sunday morning vermuth on the terrace.
UGARIT
different locations in Barcelona: Gracia, Sants, Poblenou
check out their website for locations & opening hours
Syrian food is one of the most delicious & veggie-friendliest cuisines of the world!
And UGARIT without doubt is the No.1 place in Barcelona! That's why they already have 7 restaurants throughout the city, most of them in Gràcia.
They have a wide range of meat & vegetable dishes, shawarma rolls, falafel and mixed plates. Whatever you decide to try, order it with mutabbal (eggplant cream - not vegan) - it's devine! The vegan arayes w/potato, grilled pita sandwiches are also very recommendable.
- total on bill: around 15€ p.P.
Note: UGARIT recently opened anew location on Rambla Poblenou. Eventhough I live in the neigbourhood somehow I haven´t tried yet - shame on me. The location is great and the place looks promising. And Ugarit food for sure is great, everywhere you go!
UGARIT POBLENOU
Rambla Poblenou, 92 (Poblenou)
Metro: Poblenou
open every day: every day 11:00 - 01:00H
ESTEL DE GRÀCIA
C/ Francisco Giner 23 (Gràcia)
Metro: Diagonal or Verdaguer
Unconspicious from the outside and just in the maze of Gràcias small and narrow streets I found this place by coincidence.
They have tipical and creative mediterranian dishes on their menu and a few tapas to get started. Please try 'Patatas bravas with egg & truffle Sauce'.
The restaurant is decorated very nicely with an impressive sculptur made of bicicle wheels hanging fron the high ceiling. They also serve excelent Gin Tonics or just sorts of different flavored
tonics.
- total on bill: around 25€ each, including wine
EMPANADAS ARGENTINAS (El viejo almacén)
C/ Ramón i Cajal 158 (Gràcia)
Metro: Joanic
open 12:00 - 22:00h
EMPANADAS ARGENTINAS is an argentinian Take-Away that stricly concentrates on his one and only power: Empanadas!
The small and very lovingly/patriotically designed store is just on the corner of Plaça Joanic .
The empanadas, our favourite south-american turnover pastries for 1,80€ each, have a variety of savoury fillings: From typical argentinan favourites like beef, chicken with herbs or humita (corn with grated nutmeg) to edgy but yummy interiors like caprese, goat cheese or sourcrout with sausage.
If you can not get enough you can also order bigger amounts for caterings and events.
VERMUTERIA DEL TANO
C/Joan Blanques 17
Metro: Joanic (Gràcia)
open Tuesday to Friday: 9:00- 21:00; Saturday & Sunday: 12:00-16:00 - Mondays closed!
This place is a real authentic experience of what a local bar in the neighbourhood of Gràcia looks like.
This bodega is quite small and the decoration is something else: The walls are covered in football stickers, old photos & curiosities. They only serve 'conserves' (tinned seafood), beers, liqueurs and the house vermouth.
LA CIGALE
C/ Tordera 51 (Gràcia)
Metro: Verdaguer/ Joanic
open every day: 18:00- 2:30h
LA CIGALE (the cricket) is a small restaurant and bar in Gràcia. The decoration and funiture look like in a very comfy livingroom.
The music is nice and soft, which makes the bar a perfect place for a date or drinks and talks with friends.
Upstairs they have a second floor which they also use for group reservations and closed events.
The food is simple and nothing spectacular (hamburgers and finger food) but gets along quite well with a drink at CIGALE.
LA TIENDITA DE LA REINA (LA REINA DE LAS TORTILLAS)
C/ Torrent de l'Olla (Gràcia)
Metro: Diagonal
open monday to friday 10:30 - 20:00h, saturdays 11:00 - 15:00h
This shop sells everything lovers of the mexican cuisine will ever need to prepare a delicious meal.
They are famous for their different types of fresh tortillas for quesadillas, tacos y enchilladas. They are not imported but made in Spain from 100% corn flower nixtamal (without gluten!). They also have an enourmous assortment of salsas, spicy dips and canned and dried chilie peppers.
ELEPHANTA
C/ Torrent d'en Vidalet 37 (Gràcia)
Metro: Joanic
open Mondays to Saturdays 18:00 - 3:00, Sundays: 17:00 - 3:00h
I am not crazy about Gin Tonics, but a lot of friends of mine are. And I simply have to admit the this little cozy bar in Gràcia is just the perfect place to try exclusive and delicious Gins.
The drinks menu is so wide-ranging (40 types of gin) that you might need some time to figure out which one will be your drink tonight. Or you just go for a pack degustación, which includes 4 smaller glasses of different varieties.
The Gin Tonics cost between 9-14€ but are really worth it.
DIP DUMPLINGS
C/ Ramón i Cajal 61 (Gràcia)
Metro: Joanic
open: 13:00 - 16:30h & 19:00-23:00, Mondays closed
I discovered this small restaurant offering take-away & delivery in Gràcia recently by chance.
As the name suggests, they serve dumplings (dim sum), but there is in fact a full menu with asian fusion food available. But on my first visit I stuck to the specialities: dumplings.
I chose a take-away box of Veggi dumplings (4,90€): vegan with a filling of cabbage, carrot & shitake featuring the traditional dip (soy sauce with vinegar) and some kimchi, fermented, spicy cabbage. Seasoned with spring onions and sesame they were exceptionally delicious.
The dumplings are being prepared, steamed & fried right in the moment which might cause a short instance for you to wait. The space inside is limited, but if you want to enjoy your food right away, you can sit down.
The decoration of the place is just like the food: simple but just lovely.
- total on bill: 4,90€ for vegan dumplings (6 pcs.)
Don't trust Tripadvisor, trust me!
Hi, my name is Kristin.
I'm from Germany but for over ten years I have been living, working and eating in Barcelona. Receiving a lot of friends from all over the world I always have been asked for references and recommendations where to enjoy a good meal or having a drink in the city.
